Feistritztalbahn

The Feistritztalbahn railway (Weiz - Anger - Birkfeld) is, thanks to the involvement of Club U 44, one of the few railway tracks where you can still enjoy a traditional trip on a steam train, just like in the good old days. The chugging steam engine pulls along carriages fitted with wooden banks dating from the days the railway was first founded.
Travel through the charming landscapes of East Styria, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The ingenious constructions along this narrow-gauge railway (numerous bridges, viaducts and tunnels) offer endless opportunities for amateur photographers.

The train always includes a buffet car to make sure no one goes hungry! And there is plenty of good atmosphere along the comfortable route from Weiz to Birkfeld. You can also take your bike on the train with you to enjoy the family-friendly Feistritztal cycle trail R 8 from Birkfeld to Ratten (18 km). The Club U 44 light railway museum (in the former boiler house of the Birkfeld station) is sure to fill any railway buff with enthusiasm.
