Flying & balloon trips

Visit the region of Weiz - St. Ruprecht by plane or pursue your hobby here – gliding or model aeroplanes. The airfield is located right on the through road towards Weiz.The ASKÖ aviation sports club in Weiz is the place for setting out on a flight from the Weiz airfield. This is only possible if you are a member of the club.This membership entitles you to use the club’s planes, with the relevant pilot’s licence of course. Members are also obliged to pay a membership fee every quarter!

To secure themselves a cost-effective flight, members are required to take part in the airfield activities. This includes maintaining the airfield, the 440m long grass runway, the hanger and of course the aeroplanes!
 
You can also learn gliding in the region. The club has 6 instructors. The practical and theory test will take place after successful completion of the training by the instructor on-site. The basic training will take place in a ASK13 (double seater) and a Ka8B (single seater trainer). You can complete the basic certificate in gliding as well as learning about top performance flying and air acrobatics. Cloud-seeder planes are also stationed at the airfield. They distribute small quantities of silver iodide into the air where there are active storm clouds to prevent hail forming. The airfield also has a small canteen and fuelling station.

See the region from above – in a hot air balloon! Stubenberg am See in East Styria is the ideal place to take a balloon ride. The experience can be enjoyed in stable weather conditions, at any time of year.
