Weiz has made a name for itself as a city of culture over the last 50 years on a national level. It has also succeeded in taking another big step forward. After much intensive planning, the opening of the Weiz art house represents a brave and forward-thinking project with the large ‘Frank Stronach’ room at its core.

The new art house meets all the requirements you would expect of a modern art business and blends in harmoniously with its setting in the old town. Architect Dietmar Feichtinger has constructed a new and modern building with an exceptional aura among the old tiled rooftops of the city. This contemporary new building sparks a dialogue of self-awareness between the past and present as well as representing an extravagant architectural experience. At the same time, the high quality of the various spaces forms the ideal conditions for a comprehensive demonstration of art and culture.

A unique culture zone has emerged in the centre of Weiz following the renovation of the adjacent old townhouse which now has a room dedicated to the artist Hannes Schwarz as well as a restaurant and links with the Weberhaus culture centre. Various events are held in the 1800 m² space including everything from classical to pop music, exhibitions to workshops and readings to theatre performances. The new art house therefore forms a link between tradition and modernity.
