Raabklamm Gorge
The Greater Raabklamm Gorge
Austria’s longest gorge
The Greater Raabklamm gorge was declared a nature protection area in 1970 and now forms part of the EU NATURA 2000 network. While the southern part of the gorge is characterised by its darker and fairytale atmosphere, the bizarre cliff formations in the northern limestone area bear witness to the ongoing force of nature and lend the gorge a wild and romantic feel.
Along the rugged cliff walls and magnificent grey alder meadows, accompanied by the rushing waters of the Raab, you can explore this original natural paradise by following the secure footpaths and footbridges. All branches and routes are well-signposted and there is parking for cars and coaches at all entrance points.

The Kleine Raabklamm Gorge
The Kleine Raabklamm Gorge is one of Austria’s last stretches of river which has been preserved in its natural state. Comfortable footpaths, a diverse range of animal and plant species and an idyllic atmosphere make it easy to forget everyday stresses and make this less well-known section of the Raabklamm a unique recuperation point for old and young alike.
